Our Silk Chiffon Batik Hand Prints are hand printed fabrics on 100% crinkled silk chiffon base. These custom batik prints originated from Java, Indonesia. Batik is an ancient and intricate technique. The technique begins by applying hot wax to a concentrated area before dyeing begins to resist the dyeing. The design can be created by drawing shapes with a tool called tjanting or by printing the resist with a copper stamp called cap. The last process of dyeing is an important one to achieve the desired color. The fabric is sold by the Yard, and measures 44 inches in width.
